    Spurious toolpaths - Inkscape to DXF to Cambam to Mach 3 NC to tried & tested table

    Hi,

    could you please help me track down an issue that may be CamBam or mach3 related.

    I have some anomalous results from a machining job (See Photos) that may or may not be related to CamBam.

    For brevity I've outlined the workflow and describe the issue in dot points.

    Workflow;
    Import image of guitar jig plan into Inkscape
    Trace outline of parts with inkscape paths (Splines)
    Export paths to DXF file (Standard inkscape setting (Autocad r14) converts to poly lines a arcs)
    Import DXF file into CamBam
    Join segments in CamBam(CTRL+J)
    Manipulate orientation of splines and duplicate for additional machining operations.
    Configure and save toolpaths using Mach3-Cutviewer post processor as *.nc file.
    Machine on rebuilt router table, tried and tested on other machining jobs.

    Issue;
    You can see in the photos I'm getting a step in some of the machined paths which isn't in the digital toolpath. It isn't on all pieces. It isn't a missed step in my setup as it cuts the path the same in 4 passes and returns to point of origin. It cuts the same on multiple jobs (Three time now)
    The parts are not the same width when they should be.
    Holes are off centre.

    I have recalibrated the machine and done considerable fault finding. I've cut the job out three times with the same result.

    I'm thinking its some sort of arc error or a creep within this 20,000 line machining job.

    I have included the cambam file and NC file in the zip file.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards
    Thomas

    Looks like a mechanical issue to me. Make sure you don't have any loose couplings.

    The g-code looks fine in Mach3, so it's not a software issue.

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
    Why do you think it s mechanical issue?
    Everything is tight but I will check it again.
    It cuts our the same each time.
    Im going to re orient the job and see if I get the same errors on the opposite axis.

    Why do you think it s mechanical issue?
    Because you don't see it in Mach3.
