Stamping Press For Sample Square Lids

I have a few questions and like to know is possible to do all this in one single stamp punch. The parts I like to do is very 4" x 4" x 1/4" lid and is 20ga 304 stainless steel. I like to have a very tight edge bends and 90 degree all sides.
    1. Is possible to do all these with single punch that include 4 corners notch out and fold back the 4 sides?

    2. What size or type of stamping press will work for this type of work? I looking for high speed run.

    Thanks

No, you cannot punch out the corners and do the bends in one press stroke. This will be done in a minimum of two strokes: First to punch out the corners, and second to do the bends.

However, unless you need to do a whole lot of volume (maybe 5,000 pieces or more), you are better off doing the bends on a press brake one at a time instead of investing in an expensive die to wipe all four flanges at once.

Regarding the tonnage needed, pretty much any press can handle this - you are not talking about any significant tonnage requirements. For punching the corners out, if you are starting with a blank that is already the exact size you need (minus the corner cutouts), you would only need around 5 tons to punch the corners out.

    Mcyoda,
Are you talking about a draw-form tool to form a 1/4" flange all around the cover without any corner notches?

Look up "Pinch Trim Die". Used to combine drawing and trimming in one operation.
