    Stepper Vs. Servo Cutting Circles

would like some input using a stepper vs. a servo setup on a micro mill, cost is somewhat of an issue, my major concern is being able to cut a nice circle or oval out of aluminum without any mismatched start & stop points. will a stepper setup be able to accomplish this, and what controller board would be reccomended.

The quality of the circles depend largely on the leadscrew backlash. Either steppers or servos will work well if you have close to zero backlash.

A microstepping controller will give good results for the least cost.
