Syntec 21A Router 1325ATC 4 axis (Rotary Head +-92deg) Rotary Problem

    Hello
I have this cnc and I ahave some problem with rotary.
The rotary A axis, cannot compensate the tool len. and pivot distance when i run a gcode file.
I guess there is some M-Code or gcode to active 4 axis compensation.
Unfortunately I have no programming manual and technical document.

    Thanks tou for answer

Normally it would be the CAM program that would figure out the tool offsets, taking the kinematics of your machine into account, and write code that would move the axes accordingly. Is CAM included with the software that runs your machine? Is it compensating for tool length in 3-axis mode, but failing to do so when the A axis is involved? (Usually "A" designates an axis parallel to X; it looks like your machine pivots the spindle in a plane parallel to Y, so it should be called "B".) https://www.scan2cad.com/blog/cnc/cnc-machine-axis/

    Hi,
most modern high-end controllers have TCP, tool center point control. This is required for four and five axis machines, but not three axis machines.
Usually you know....because you've had to pay for it, and it is not cheap. Even then you usually require specialist CAM software to run four and five axis and that
    costs a fortune too.

For example Fusion (Basic) is three axis and costs about $800 NZD/year, but Fusion Machining Extensions cost another $2400 NZD/year. So the four and five axis functionality
costs three times just the ordinary three axis functionality!.

The question is 'does your machine support four (and/or five) axis functionality?' In particular does it have TCP?

Re: Syntec 21A Router 1325ATC 4 axis (Rotary Head +-92deg) Rotary Problem

    Hi Joe
    Thanks for the reply
I am working with mastercam and Siemens NX for 4 and 5 axis machines for many years.
The cnc is 4 axis. 4th axis is rotating about Y axis and named A. Limits is +91 -91 (pls see attached picture).
I am looking for a way to compensate 4 axis moves. In most cases, the 4th axis setup datas entered in Controller parameters.

But when I run a 4 axis gcode like "G1 G90 X100 Y100 Z-50 A90 F5000" the cnd head rotate in machine X100 position, although X should be total of "X100" in gcode line, sum to Pivot Distance of A in head and Tool Lenght(from Tool Table) and usually sum with the gap in the spindle nose.

I guess there are some setup instructions or some Special MCodes for this issue.

    Hi
No there is not software .I can build postprocessor with NX postbuilder.
But usuly this data is in parameters and tcp automatically is active for head rotary machines.

Yes. just for 3axis tool lenght compensated.

Thats right. The A rotary rotate about X axis.
about that we can rename the 4th axis form A to B, I guess renameing that cannot fix issue.

    Hi,
what you are describing is a controller that does not have TCP.

I use Mach4, and Mach4 does not natively have TCP either, but can none-the less do five axis.

What it rellies on is that when I set the machine up that the 0,0,0,0,0 point is coincident with the tool tip. When I compose the Gcode using Fusion Machining extensions the stock must be
placed relative to the 0,0,0,0,0 point that replicates the stock placement in the vice with respect the the machine center 0,0,0,0,0. Thereafter Fusion produces perfectly good five axis
Gcode. If however I change tools (with a different tool length) then I must re-reference the new tool tip location to 0,0,0,0,0 of the machine.

A machine WITH TCP can recalculate the changed tool tip position on the fly, whereas Mach4 (natively) cannot.

I think you would agree this is a complication that you'd rather not have to bother with......so pay the big dollars for a controller WITH TCP.
For the amount of five axis work I do I will not be bothering with that expense, Mach4 does a perfectly excellent job despite not having TCP support.

Hlo my friend, i have setup 4th axis & 5 axis RTCP in syntec
