    Tapmatic shank change

A few years ago I picked up a couple Tapmatic 30x units on ebay for little money. ( can't happen today). I now have use for one but they have straight shanks and along with my keyless chuck they make for a rather long setup.
I'd like to change to a MT2 shank but I don't know how to remove the straight shank. I know it is tapered into the unit.

Anyone familiar with how to do it?

Hi, It is a standard right hand thread. Just get a good grip on the parts and unscrew the shank CCW.

Absolutely not! It's a taper it says so on the shank.

Anyway I got it off; put the straight shank in the vise, took a wrench that just straddled the shank and whacked it with a hammer. Not a pretty operation but it popped right off.
