Good question, I'm also researching a new computer for Mach3 and beyond.
I've also heard of people having trouble with laptops.

I'll be watching to see what others say,

We have Dolphin CAD/CAM users that use Vista. Alot of users use Mach 3 so i'd imagine Mach 3 would work on Vista. Not sure how stable!!

    Vista and Mach3

I use vista and mach3 with no problems. At first, there were issues with video and screen freezes. By enshuring the most current video driver is installed, problems went away. Now the big question is, can you find a laptop with a parallel port? probably not. there are new interface cards that use ethernet connections, which seem to work pretty well. I was lucky to get a laptop with parallel port.

    Hope this helps.

I too would like to use a laptop with MACH3. The problem is the need of a Parallel LPT port to interface with my servo drives.
