    Tool Path

    Hello,
I imported a solid from SW and now I'm trying to do a rough turn . The part has a groove on the OD, and the problem that arise is when I create the tool path, my tool follows the groove shape. What should I do in order for my tool to follow the path I want?

    Thank you

review your plunge setting to keep the tool from plunging into the the groove.
Plunge setting shown in picture below. You want the last plunge option in the picture.

My settings are similar with yours, and still the tool follows plunges into the groove. As I mentioned before, I'm using a solid imported from SW, and probably I should create a geometry from this solid so I can select the chain I want...
If that's the case, how can I create a geometry out of a solid?

Does Mastercam have functions like "Create Geometry from Solids and Surfaces" or "Extract Geometry from Solids and Surfaces"?

Share your file as you can use the solid chain I see.

Toby that is whay he is doing chain from the solid it creates a automatic profile for chainning.

That is a nice feature that I wish BCC had. It just goes to show the difference between budget software and top of the line
