First off thank you in advance for taking the time to help me with something I have little experience in.
We just purchased a CNC Router equipped with a SEV HSD AT/MT 1073-140 spindle that has a max speed of 18,000 rpms. Also we are running a coolant mister. One purpose of purchasing the router was to plunge holes in 3/8" thick 6005 aluminum. Which didn't seem to be a problem when discussing the topic with the router manufacturer. If I understand this correctly with this small spindle you need to run that high rpm to keep the spindle torque. Can anyone give me any recommendations to what type of tooling I should use for plunging holes at this high rpm? Again I appreciate any input and I look forward to the responses from people who are experienced in this field.
