Torus Pro Servo motor acceleration values

    Folks,

What do you guys have in your Mach3 settings for motor tuning/acceleration values for servo edition. Mine came with 14 in/s and it seemed to be too slow for short distance travels as rapids never get achieved. Bumping over 30 makes a bit of a jolt when the table moves and I am also concerned about the preloaded bearings. So what would you say optimum value is?

Unless you're doing a lot of high-speed 3D profiling, there's little to be gained by trying to set uber-high rapid speeds or acceleration values, other than bragging rights. I run my machines at 250 IPM rapids, and 25 in/sec2 acceleration, which seems about the point of diminishing returns. Faster rapids gain you virtually nothing in terms of reduced machining time, and higher acceleration introduces a LOT more vibration on direction changes, starts and stops.

    Regards,
    Ray L.
