    trying to program a helix...

I posted this over on the FeatureCAM forum, but thought I would ask here too as that forum doesn't seem to have as much traffic.

I'm just not good enough with this software yet to figure this out, and thought maybe someone here could help me out. Picture this:

1.220 diameter round stock with an I.D. of .875 chucked in the lathe

I want to plunge into the part (our lathe has live tooling; Daewoo Puma 2500SY) on the O.D., .375 back from Z0(face of stock) with a 5/16 ball e.m. Then, I want the e.m. to cut a helix that is 1 complete turn in 10", but only cut back to Z-2.9 (stock will only be turning 90° from the original plunge @ Z-.375.

Does that make sense? Basically, the e.m. is only cutting back 2.5", but in a helix with a twist of 1 turn in 10 inches. I can always email the FM file to anyone who might have a few extra minutes to help me figure this out.

I'm racking my brain here, and it's just not coming to me.

    Thanks in advance,
    -WRM

It shouldn't take many lines I would MDI that part of the program.
