Ucancam v10 - Config file corruption. How do I re-calibrate?

I am using a Diacam CNC router controlled by Mach3, and am creating .nc files using Ucancam v10.

Last week I opened Ucancam and it threw up an error message. Unfortunately I did not record what the error message said and the software working canvas/art-board was just black. I solved this by going into system settings and resetting to defaults. I didn't think that this would mess with anything too important as the settings in that window didn't seem all that crucial.

Now when I export an NC file out and run it in Mach3, the CNC output is nowhere near the correct size. I have spent the better part of a day trying to find out how I can fix this issue, but Ucancam has no documentation that helps. I am assuming that potentially the initial issue was a config file corruption, and that I need to re-calibrate Ucancam to output files of the correct scale for my CNC, but I have no clue as to how to go about this.

I am a complete newbie at using CNCs and such, and I have pretty much taught myself on this current set up at my job. No one else knows anything as the machine was purchased 2nd hand a few years before I started and already calibrated/configured. I'm unable to find any documentation on the CNC itself, either, but not sure that would provide much use anyway, as it seems the issue is with Ucancam itself.

Any help would be hugely appreciated. If I need to provide any more details I would be happy to do so.

Re: Ucancam v10 - Config file corruption. How do I re-calibrate?

After a bit more digging, learning and receiving a wholly unhelpful response from Ucancam support, I have more details regarding my problem. My next port of call was to uninstall and reinstall the software. I did so making sure to backup the AppData folder containing our tool library, Post Processor *.set files, and presumably other configuration files. On re-installation I have discovered that no post .set files were installed and had to grab the old Generic CNC file and put in the newly minted AppData folder. However the exact same problem persists. I have drawn a 20mm x 20mm square and output it as a .nc file. Upon bringing it into Mach3 and reading through the G-Code I can see that the instructions in the code state 42.2 as the sides of said square - presumably this is in millimeters as that is what we operate in and what the resulting output measures as when we mill with the file. I've had a look at the post processor file in a text editor, but am not entirely sure what I am looking for and it seems to match what I would expect from examples of these files I've found online.

Hi! It sounds like resetting Ucancam to defaults may have changed your unit or scaling settings, causing the NC files to export at the wrong size. In Ucancam, check the workspace units (mm or inches) and verify the scale factors under the export or post-processing settings. Also, confirm that the machine parameters in Mach3 match those in Ucancam, especially the steps per unit and work area size. Since documentation is scarce, you might try community forums or user groups for Ucancam and Mach3—many users share helpful calibration tips there. Let me know if you want specific setting walkthroughs!

Using Freezvon’s service has greatly improved my web development projects by providing a reliable virtual number for calls and SMS. It enables seamless global communication, making it easier to test and manage user interactions worldwide. I using this service for texting and calling—highly recommended!
