    UCCNC backlash compensation issue.

Hello i just switched over from Mach3 and i am setting up the UCCNC software. I'm finding that when i step jog at .001 increments with backlash compensation on is giving me some unusual results. When i step more then about 5 increments in the same direction i can see the motor move in the opposite direction almost as if its applying the backlash compensation in the wrong direction. The backlash compensation should only work when changing directions. I found this as i was trying to dial in the backlash compensation numbers for the mill. Has anyone seen this before? When i turn backlash comp off the step jog goes back to normal incremental.

My setup is on a windows 7 machine, with UC400ETH.

    Thank you!

    David.

    Re: UCCNC backlash compensation issue.

I too have observed this behavior. I wonder if the backlash field takes both positive and/or negative numbers. It looks like it backlash compensates in the wrong direction.

Will look over in the bug track thread to see if this is discussed further.

The advice from cncdrive is as follows, suggest you try the changes.

The linked cnczone forum issue is totally different, it is because the comp.acceleration parameter is set too low, so the axis can reverse the backlash direction and compensate backwards before stopping.
Making the comp.accel parameter to 150%+ value of the normal acceleration should fix that problem.
