I'm curious about how I could use one of the Tormach probes on my mill.

I am producing a part that is difficult to fixture. On Op 2, it is clamped in a vise on parallels. But there is no place to put a work stop that would not interfere with machining. That means that the part has to be located in X each time I run a part.

Is there a way to have the program automatically probe the part and adjust the Y offset?

I have no experience with probing but I am sure you could do it with some macro work.

For location just bolt something to the table as a work stop and use a gauge block as a specer between the stop and your piece. Obviously you will take the gauge block out so your stop will not interfere with your machining operation.

I have also used the shank of an endmill in the spindle as a work stop when it is convenient.

That's what I'm doing now. It works, but there's always room for improvement.
