Lightbulb Using RFID or barcode scanners to load program (no DNC to hard drive)

    Hi All,

I am new to this, and please excuse any glaring lack of knowledge with regard to CNC i may have.

    Problem:
We currently have makino a55 grinders with makino pro 3 controllers (fanuc based i believe)
We run 3 different programs on these machines and at present we have a set program we call on to select the program, that is

We place the fixture onto the bed, close doors and run an operation 'o8000' which reads binary off the fixture (see below) and then loads corresponding program. Which the operator would then accept and run, (usually takes 35 seconds to complete)

    Attachment 276404
i was wandering if there is a method of reducing this time, i.e. removing current process and instead potentially using a barcode scanner or rfid to load program, and what would be the process of doing so.

    My idea was,
Load into machine>Scan barcode>Close doors (while doing this, barcode read loads program onto controller)>Operator accepts program without having to type in program number

    Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance,

    Div.

I don't have any experience with that sorry...but that is an awesome idea.
