    V2XT - machine check failed

We get a "machine check....FAILED" error while booting our V2XT. Then the next message is "executive load....FAILED - error code -1". I skimmed through some of the other posts, and tried some new AA batteries (dont see the lithium battery).

I bet some of you guys will have some ideas...........

    Thanks

The executive load is the software that resides in the FMDC. It is backed up by those 4 AA batteries you changed. You did change them with the control ON? That way you do not lose the data.
If the FMDC does not have this software, it loads it from the floppy. Thus the problem string could be data on the floppy or communications from the mother board to the FMDC. The status LEDs do change state from a ready to receive status to a loading status. There is a function key on the Bridgeport main screen when the machine boots for reloading the executive. It is F9 or F10, if I remember.

Uh........I think the power was down when we did the AA's. What do we lose? We have been booting up from a floppy anyway. Now we just found that the 5VDC power supply appears suspect - as the fan is not turning (and there is 125V to the input connector).

I pulled your scan of the FMDC error codes, and we have LED's 1,3,6 and 8 at the point when the machine errors out. But our colors dont match your drawing - we have GRYRYYGG.

We will try the F9, F10 keys as soon as we determine if the 5VDC is actually still good or not.

    Thanks

We did have 5VDC and 12VDC coming out the extra hard drive cable from the power supply. So I think we just need to put a new fan on that. And we tried two boot discs with the same results..........
