Want to buy a HURCO Hawk 5D CNC. Any suggestions on what to check?

There is a local listing for a HURCO Hawk 5D with Autocon Dynapath CNC. They say the Vari-Drive (speed change) bearings need to be replaced. It seems a rebuild kit runs about $400 and it seems like something I could do myself. The price seems/is right.

My experience with CNC machines is limited to my little Taig CNC so any advice on what to watch for will be appreciated. Thank you.

If it's like our hawks, we have very little problems with the machines themselves, just the dam Hurco controls. Dynapath would be a huge improvement for reliability, but operators love the Hurco controls. I love the dynapaths.
