Hi everyone,
I'm looking into building a 8' x 6' cnc plasma/router table for producing my own automotive and motorcycle parts, furniture, and random art pieces. For plasma cutting, I would like to be able cut through 1/2 mild steel with high resolution at a relatively fast rate with as clean a cut as possible. I have a pretty good idea about how I will build the table. The features I am still researching and considering include the following:
- Nema 34 stepper motors
- linear motion rails/slides and carriages
- rack and pinion systems
- Hypertherm 65
- Gecko 540 motor driver
- Mach 3
Hello everyone. I'm Gustavo, live in Portland Oregon. I've been lurking and trying to pick up some basics. I'm interested in building a small tabletop CNC router for making PCBs and faceplates & cases for music-related electronics. I'm a pretty technical software developer, and have a little experience with electronics, manual metalwork, manual woodwork, and worked with CNC embroidery on textiles before. Also have quite a bit of 3d modeling and CAD plotting experience - but back in the stone ages (late 80s).
I hope to connect with some local folks and pick up some knowledge. Thanks for a great forum!
Good evening. I've been reading the RF-45 CNC threads by gdmarsh, petefromTN and others for a few months now. Figured I should join up and participate while I start my own build. I see there are a few guys from around the Seattle area here that I would love to buy a beer and pick their brains on some stuff I might not completely understand.
