What kind of motor is it ?????

    Hello guys
I hope not to be ot
I've find some very nice russian motors at a military surplus deposit.
I've got one since it has a gherhead that I can use anyway, its stainless steel and has a reduction ratio of 25 to 1.
Shortcutting the terminals and turning it ,no steps could be felt ,so if not a stepper it is probably a brushless.
It has no descriptions on it :devious:
I'm not very good in electronics and i've never seen something alike, but I can only guess it could be a precision brushless motor whit a planetary gearhead .
Now befor I disassemble it to use the gearhead , and ruin such a nice piece of technology, is there any of you guys that knows about military surplus stuff and/or have a clue of what kind'a motor it is???

Thank'u and sorry to bother whit such a question

Its possible it may be a variable reluctance motor, which has no magnets and is very efficent. You would not neccessarily detect the detent like a stepper motor.
Some of the advantages is the motor is brushless and easy to manufacture. The efficiency is high compared to conventional DC and AC motors.
At low speed, almost no losses in the rotor are generated this makes it easy to cool and can thus be small.
It has been around for a very long time as one of the earliest motors, but todays control technology has revived it somewhat.
You may have a problem finding a control for it however, with out knowing the true specs.

    Thank'u Al.
I' ve lokked a bit around the surplus deposit to try to find some specs or a piece of hardware that mounts in to have a better clue but whit no luck.
I'ts a pitty since there are around 20 of those motors.

Any idea what voltage? if it's 12 or 24 then there's a good chance it's a starter motor or motor for them winch thingies you get on the front of jeeps etc? Would definately narrow it down if you could find that out

Well. I'm really bad in electornics and don't know where to start to sort out any idea about voltage etc. and there are not infos watsoever on the motor.
Anyway I' m pretty shure it's nothing like a starting motor or a winch motor.
Judging from other spares that where around it's very alike to be part of a precision equipment, like a laser target positioning device or someting like that, but no infos are possible to be found on the surplus deposit.
Anyway sorry if I've bothered you guys about it, thanks for the help and never mind , I'll try to find something else with infos on it
    Ciao
    Andrea
