---Any size is good... Dooh!---
Anyway, I think 6" is to big ( too much overhang), and 4 is too small. However; 5 seems not right for a X3 mill...
What do you think?

I think a 4" should do it...so long as it has reversible jaws.....Failing that you should be able to fit one in a 6".

I use a 5 inch and find it a good size.

Thanks Folks.
It seems that 4 or 5in would be ok for a X3, so I bought a 4 in Dayton vise since the next size is a 6 in. For some reason I thought the vise would be Taiwan made, well, not a chance, it was made on the other side of the channel. The vise seems well made, but the problem is the base where you would use to level the part is less than 3in. Well, it looks like another costly lesson learned for me again. Anyone here has the Dayton vise and do you have any problem with it?
I think I should have gone for a 4 or 5in screw-less vise instead. Anybody here has this type of vise and how do you like it?
