    Where to purchase lead screws?

    Hello all

Please help! I have just received a quote on ball screws from my local SKF dealer. 8mm dia x 910mm 2.5 lead = rough conversion to $ 527.00. The prices I've seen on ebay and this site makes me think this is too high. Is it?
The larger diam 12mm X910mm 5 lead was slightly cheaper. How come? Rep is not very forthcoming with info.

    Solid guide shafts 16mm x 910 = $25.00 which seems very reasonable?

These prices exclude shipping. Nobody locally seems to stock ball or lead screws so I might as well order them myself off the net.
    Where do I buy?

New precision ground ballscrews are expensive all right. If you can snag some cheap off of Ebay, you can assume that some else has "eaten" most of the original cost.

Try Reid Tool if you can stand lower precision rolled thread ballscrews, or even plain threaded screws.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)
