Why no upgrade option from V22 to V23

    HI,
Does anyone know why BobCad don't offer a reasonable priced upgrade option for people with V22 to V23.
I had a sales guy quoting me full price for V23, when i have V22 already, so in realaty i would only be getting a few changes to my original product.
If BobCad offered an upgrade for lets say between $50 to $100, then almost all of current users of V22 would upgrade, thus keeping everyone on board with the latest Versions.
People would upgrade every time with this option, after all its only a download, and then an upgrade to exsisting (dongle) lincence.
I think someone should approach Bob him self with this suggestion, after all there must be loads of people with V22, who just find this such a rip off price, to pay almost the same price as someone buying for the first time.
Another benifit is that you would keep most users together, and thus not having to provide support spread over all the range ie, V22 support, V21 support, V20, etc.
    :boxing:

Unhappy I stand by my past post...

on this subject and that Bob Cad has been inconsistent with how they have supported individual complaints. Also, I am bitter at this point because I was asked to give a contact pm number by a BC representative to "take care of my problems", I did, but was never contacted.:nono:
I payed a fair price and was not supported when v22 was found to have serious issues. If I supported my customers the way BC did me, I would be out of business.
I was not taken seriously that in the 2007, and V22 versions were almost impossible to learn correctly by a new user. In my history with BC, I purchased 4 versions, with CD's( when available) started to learn the first, then had to go through a divorce which delayed me almost 3 years. I bought the upgrades during that period to keep up the software, and when I was able to get back to being serious about learning it again, found it was almost impossible to do so with all its problems and errors. It may be somewhat workable for one who has been using it for years, but not to me a newbe within what I would consider a reasonable amount of time. Is v23 a workable solution? I have no idea. I'm not sure at this point I would be willing to give it a try even with some kind of free or near free upgrade. As I said before in past post, I would really have to think about it.

I got a pretty reasonable deal to upgrade to v23 pro from v22 non-pro. It only cost a little more than getting the pro upgrade for v22, so I'd say the price was fair!

v23 has quite a few new features that are worth paying for, but the thing I regret most was the dishonesty of the sales staff in the first place, as they did not tell me that I was not getting the pro toolpaths with my V22 package when I'd been very clear about my requirements.

Maybe they should offer a better upgrade deal to existing customers, as had I not been considering the upgrade to v22 pro anyway, I would not have paid for v23 at the price I did.

Free upgrades are an unlikely idea though - there's nothing wrong with paying for upgrades if they're worth it, but a better deal for loyal customers would not be a bad thing either.

    BobCAD/CAM

I have finally gotten SOOOO disgusted with BobCAD and their sales staff, that I just trashed all of my BobCAD/CAM materials and disks. I purchased a 2 seat license with BobCAD/CAM, BobART ProX, and BobNEST. I'm sure I paid too much so I won't even mention the price here. I had a hard time working with the software so I signed up for one of their training seminars. I paid $1,000 plus travel expenses only to find that their "trainer" was teaching from a newer version and was mostly concerned with metal working. There was another $1,000 down the drain!! Finally, in an attempt to salvage something (anything) from my investment, I purchased an upgrade. Again, I won't say how much I paid. I found that dealing with BobCAD is like dealing with a used car salesman. Their prices are all over the place!
To sum this diatribe up......I trashed BobCAD/CAM and purchased a package from another company for only $400.00. I was cutting perfect projects in 2D and 3D in less than an hour. Their training videos were FREE as were upgrades for the first year. When I think of how much time and money I wasted on BobCAD it makes my blood boil.

    $400.00 Solution

I ended up purchasing a combo pack from Vectric Software. I purchased their Cut 2D and Cut 3D programs. They are a cinch to learn and have performed very well. They are also free to download as are their tutorials. They also have a great user forum that you can join BEFORE you buy anything. The sample programs allow you to cut some demo files on your own machine. They also allow you to do everything but generate G-Code for your own files. I have read where there are some people who preferred VisualMill. However, I have that, too and the Vectric programs are more intuitive and I haven't found one thing that they cannot do for me. The only thing that they don't have is a nesting program.
Keep in mind that these are CAM programs. They accept most CAD drawings in many formats. Since I use AutoCAD, I have no problems exporting the DXF files and importing them into the Vectric programs.

Just Google Vectric and you can find everything from the links on their home page.
