Today I managed to get a few more cut, now the sanding and finishing begins!

My little Sugar Skull is very popular, so i'll make several for gifts this season
I've included the source code file for the Sugar Skull!

Thank you for releasing the sources . I have a dedicated flash drive wheer I store them all .
That will give me something to play with , if ever I get my router finished that is .

What's the status on the new build btw .

    Hey Pat!
As of now, my foot is still slowing me down
As soon as I'm able to put on a steel toe work boot, my metal-shop will be open for more projects!
    I can't wait, it's been 8-months now
My hopes are for a standard boot, not one of those custom molded expensive ones!

Good luck on your new build too!

Re: WidgitMaster's Largest Steel Router Table Project 9ft x 5ft x 8" Water Cooled Spi

I've been catching up on this thread for a couple months (reading a couple pages a day in down time.)
First, glad to hear you are healing well, I got whacked on my bike last year, not as bad as you, but it's no fun. Fortunately for me my only lasting injuries are irritation due to the scar and plate on my collarbone and some rather annoying back pain.
I assume you're going after the driver/insurance legally? Good luck with that, some parts of that can be as painful and as drawn out as the healing of the injuries. (I've got no idea when I'll see any money and I'm 15 months in..)

Second, amazing work all around. Beautiful attention to details as well as building a well-balanced machine. Surface finish you're getting out of big red shows it's designed and built well. Nice work on the signs as well.

Third, on your spindle life, I guess 1400 hrs is probably pretty good for one of those Chinese spindles with questionable bearing quality, but do you do any warm-up routine on the spindle before starting cutting for the day? I've heard of a good warm up routing at least doubling bearing life for some high speed spindles (I've heard this mostly relating to bigger, brand-name spindles, but I'd think it would apply to these as well.)

Hope your healing process continues to go well and can't wait to see what you'll throw together for a mid-sized machine!

    Pat
800W water cooled spindles are available. They're typically 65mm in diameter and around 2.5 kg. I wouldn't think that should be too bulky for a router that size. I'm not sure what you've looked at that is much smaller than that (I don't think that's any bigger than a trim router,) but I would design for at least a 65mm diameter spindle.

Here is my NEW 2018 Harley Davidson Trike!

Here is my NEW 2018 Harley Davidson Trike!

Last Friday, I went to Harley, to sit on a Trike, just to see how it felt! Well, after a few hours of negotiating with the salesman, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse!
They are adding a luggage rack on the back, and the entire bike will be continuously lit up with bright green LED's!
It has a surround sound stereo, a GPS navigation system, and has a GPS locator I can monitor with my cellphone, if it's ever stolen!
They gave me a FREE Trike endorsement riding class, which I thought was a good idea after the trauma my body had just experienced!

I really miss riding, especially doing the Honor Flight escorts & Toy-Run's with all the other Veteran motorcyclists! Not to mention re-joining all my brothers in Rolling Thunder, as we escort our fallen veterans to National Cemeteries!!

More great work. I just hope it is all being prominently displayed for people to appreciate and not stuck in a closet someplace.

    Widgemaster,
My vote would be for #2 as it is my personal opinion it demonstrates a more complete message of what your expressing.

However as usual, I wouldn't make firewood out of any of the pieces. Excellent work as usual.
