    Working wih drafted surfaces

How do you put a feature, like a hole on a drafted surface?

Picture a 7 degree drafted wheel hub with holes on the side for instance.

Not sure on solid works, but in mine I woud use my main plains to define the axis I wanted the hole on and created the hole at the relative dia I wanted, and copy/rotate the geometry by the # of holes I wished to have.

If you want holes that are NORMAL to the drafted surface:

Create a tangent plane - click Insert Plane, On Surface, select the OD face (I'm assuming thats what you want) and a plane that intersects and is coincident with the centerline of your part.

Sketch your hole on this plane.

Extrude cut the sketch and your finished.

If you want multiple instances of the hole then insert an axis and open the Circular Pattern tool. Select the axis, no# of holes, spacing, etc... , select the face of the hole for Feature to Pattern and click ok.
