I have been reading up on Artcam Express. Seems pretty awesome. I was considering VCarve Pro for inlays and vcarving, but this software has that for way less $.

Those higher uprights are for the first design of the Raptor machines, and will only be made one time on those, the new design Raptor is a completely different design and will have those for the new design Raptor soon, just have so many new parts being made it might be a little while yet before i get to those ones ,

The business model for Artcam Express is based on selling the plugins. Express itself is pretty stripped down so make sure that it will do all you need it to otherwise it won't take long before you have spent more than VCarve Pro and even Aspire. Someone calculated in another thread that Express with all the plugins can run to about $3500...

This isn't to disparage the product since is has a great pedigree and if it meets your needs without plugins it is a steal. The plugin approach is nice since it allows you to tailor the product to your needs or work up to a full set of capabilities as needed.

Hello Dave: Just an update on my problem. I finished a 9 plus hour project late last evening and everything went perfectly. I guess I was being to cautious not to strip the threads in the aluminum spider coupling. While the Z axis was the only one slipping, I went back and checked the others and gave them an extra bit of grip as well. Thanks again for your help.

John--that's great news! Glad it worked out for you. Those motors have a lot of torque, and it doesn't have to be very loose to cause trouble...

no, there is a notch for the spindle lock button. if youy use that notch and line up the button, the cord hits the Z saddle. if you rotate the colt a little its fine, and there is still perfect access to the button.

so basically, they are fine as is, although i may modify them next run.

Sily question but how is this possible?

In post#1477 the text from airbrush reads:

"George said the guy had forgotten to machine a notch in one spot."

Yet in post #1478 the text from ihavenofish reads:

"George said the guy had forgotten to machine a notch for the cord."

How can the text change from "in one spot" to "for the cord" ???
