    y axis problems

    I cannot move my Y axis mor than 1/8 inch without an error coming up( m1 position error) any one have an idea of what could be wrong.

    it sound like your encoder on your motor might be on the fritz.

    I agree with the encoder more than likely causing your problem. Which axis are you calling Y?

    Thanks for the help guys. I crawled under the machine and disconnected the belt from the motor to pulley and the motor worked fine. After a complete cleaning and greasing of the ballscrew it now moves smoother and quieter than ever. I guess I have to get rid of the 4 inches of sawdust under the machine. Thanks again for taking the time on a sunday to help
