    Yaskawa Drive + Pixie 100

I am in the process of hooking up a Yaskawa SDGA-08AS drive to a pixie 100 so I can use step and direction. I wanted to find out If I could use the encoder output from the drive instead of right from the motor ?
I belive there is encoder output from CN1.

Also yaskawa has Enc A, Enc B, and Enc C but the pixie 100 only takes A and B, do I just not use the Enc C ?

Anyone that could help, I would be greatfull.

    Thanks Curtis

The drive outputs are useable, they are usually scaled from the motor encoder or feedback device, if resolver etc.
Use A & B the C out is the marker pulse.

    Hi Curtis,

Just use the channel A, channel B and the ground for these encoder signals to the Pixie. You do not need to use the index channel C. This is usually just a single pulse per revolution of the encoder, and the Pixie has no need or use for this. I should also point out that the Pixie expects 5V ttl type encoder signals. Most are, but make sure your amp is not outputting something weird like 24V encoder signals that could fry the Pixie. I would bet that your drive outputs 0 to 5V encoder signals though.
