    Z axis setup

Hi all. I've had my (used) DHC using a Hypertherm 1000 for about a month now & getting fair results, but still having trouble with the height control. Im using finecut consumables and am cutting 16 Ga HRS. Seems it either wants to drag the tip on material and get the lost cutting signal or welds the tip shut, or it rises up too high & loses quality of cut. When by chance the height is right I get a .025 kerf.
The question is, Is there a basic step by step for setting the Machine settings, especially the height control. The blue binder is just not clear to me. Thanks, Fred

First, do not use the Finecut swirl ring. Use the standard swirl ring.
Set your Cut height to .07
Set the Arc Voltage Shift to .675

Set the pierce height to .150
Set the Z-shift by jogging the z-axis all the way up, then down until the torch touches the metal. Click the ZERO button next to the Z-shift box.
In the Settings uncheck "Stall on material to set height".
    Initialize.
