I need to get some more cutting tools and try different materials.

    Very nice looking machine!
Firm, solid look... I`l bet it can handle the metal using apropriate tools.

Regarding the tools (mill bits..) ask our friend Slowly for info.

    Regards!

After more than a year it is time for new machine.

Santa brought me MIG welding machine and decided to build steel frame.
Other parts will be from aluminium.

I'll use HiWin rails and ballscrews.

I havent decided yet but I think I'll use servo motors. Does anybody know this motor and driver?

Machine will be controlled with CNC USB Controller.

    Main design guides were:
    • working table size 600mm x 900mm
    • heaviest piece must have less than 100kg so that two persons can carry it
    • biggest piece must be go through 80cm wide door
    • there must be room for automatic tool changer
    • must be possible to use different motors without big modifications
    • ballscrews and linear rails
    • assembly must be easy with all screws accesible
    • alligments and tuning must be easy with clear reference points

10mm thick steel is welded to main frame. This will be grinded later so that X axes will be level and parallel.

That's a very nice looking frame design Kroko. Appears to be very rigid.

Support for tabele is welded. First time I wasn't careful and it twisted because of heat. Second one was better.

This is second table which is straight now.
Whole thing will be heated in big oven and slowely cooled down to release any internal stress. I think this process is called annealing.

I must also start working on new CNC USB Controller which will be used with this machine.
