    Apply a knurl to a surface

    I just started to use solidworks and being a machinest fo so many years has gotten me to be a little pickie. I would like to know how to apply a knrul to the out side a surface. If anyone could help

    I haven't tried it but one way would be to use the helix feature and cut a series of shallow V shaped helix grooves around the part. Then reverse the helix direction and do it again.

    The grooves would intersect and leave a surface with diamond shaped bits protruding.

    There's gotta be a simpler way though...

    that was my thought to but what a pain in the butt to have to do that to every part you want to put a knurl on.
