    Change X Direction on SL-5

I have an older SL-5 that the X axis is backwards to what I am used to.

    -X is up (bigger dia.)

    +X is down (smaller dia.)

I know there were several of these machines set up this way, but I would really like to reverse it. It has a Fanuc 6T control (not a 6TB), I can't find anything in the parameters to change it. Can anyone tell me if it can be done, and if so how to do it?

    Thanks

SWITCHING X AXIS DIRECTION ON LATHES WITH FANUC 6T CONTROL

    1. Swap soft O.T. wires L1 & L2 on the terminal block in the magnetics cabinet.

    2. On the JOG lever switch on the operators panel, swap the four wires for X axis in pairs of two; i.e., swap the two wires for X+ with the two wires for X-.

    3. Reverse the rotation of the motor as follows:

    A. Exchange the armature cables ..... either step a. or b. will work.

    a. At the motor end of the cable, exchange the armature wires at pins C & D with the wires at F & G respectively.

    b. Or, Do the same at the other end of the cable. Swap A5X & A6X with A7X & A8X, respectively.

    B. Exchange the encoder wires ..... either step a. or b. will work.

    a. At the motor end of the cable, exchange wires A & D with wires B & E respectively.

    b. On NC connector CN105, exchange wires at pins 16 & 17 with 18 & 19respectively.

    4. Parameter Changes

    12.0 change from “1” to “0”.
143 & 147 swap the data but 143 remains the negative value and 147 remains positive.
82 change only the sign of this parameter.

**NOTE** After all changes are complete, make sure all functions, i.e., jog, handle, G01, zrn, etc. are working correctly. Also, in minimum rapid or jog, intentionally run the axis into both hard O.T. switches to ensure correct operation.
