Try alt-F1 to bring the geometry into view. Usually my dwg/dxf files do the same thing.

I did the auto-fit function and checked that all the visible levels were on and still nothing, can you think of any thing else I might be overlooking? thanks,

Check screen statistics to see if there is any geometry at all.

Uncheck the blank paper space entities box and see if this helps.

Could it be the file is a newer vrsion then your software supports?
Can you post the DWG file and I will try in X2 and X3.

It's entirely possible that the drawing was done in a Solid format then sent to paper space as an X-Ref which results in an empty drawing. I've seen this many times. If that is the case you are experiencing, there is actually no geometry whatsoever in the file you are opening, thus your blank screen. Ask the person who drafted the file and see what exactly was done to create it.

Thanks for everyone's help, but this problem turned out to be our die designer setting the permissions improperly for his saved DWG files, false alarm...my apologies.
