I guess I forgot to attach the file I created of the butterfly. I milled it out today from 3/16" ply. It's pretty big. I had one issue that I'm fixing right now, then I'll post a photo of it.

I was trying to find the empire state building plans so I could recreate King Kong. Here he is on a vacation in France (I need to learn to use paintshop or similar).

I would like to say the Ship Set was plain sailing. But after a week and more scrap parts than actual ship. Its ready. If I had more time I would improve the stand and clean up the lower hull more.

I will be moving next house week but will concentrate on my Jinty ASAP.

The parts are all their but could do wih being nested.
If someone can tell me how to reduce or upload the file sze for the DXF. I will post it.

Converting a Puzzle drawing to DXF

This is how I convert a 3D puzzle to a drawing.

This technique I find works best on curved puzzles(dinos, animals etc) rather than angular ones(cars and planes).

First I vectorize the 3D puzzle drawing(I use V carve Pro).

Smooth the outines. Don't worry about the slots.

    Import into AutoCAD or similar.

Create a new layer and change the colour(in my case red).

    Draw centre lines as shown.

Offset them by half the width of slot and join the offset lines across bottom of slot.

    Delete centrelines.

Turn off the red slot layer.

Explode the vectors and delete vectorised slots.

Use a small radius fillet (0.3mm Rad) to join red slots to vector outlines.

I rejoin all vectors in one push key in V Crave Pro.

Any symetrical parts I clean half. Delete the other half. Then mirror the clean half.

Mutiple pieces I treat one and copy it.

Sure will. The pdf is too big (2mb) so I too will chop it up into 4 pages, but I just realized its 2am , so this will have to wait till tomorrow night!
