    Geometry from 3D surface

    Hello,

I need to get the geometry from a 3D surface to make a chain, so I can use that chain to add a milling operation with Conical mill.

I have done it before but cant find it anymore.

See the picture as an example. The black (geometry) in the back is from the grey part in the front, now i need to find out what steps i need to do to reproduce this.

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure you need to create a FreeForm, not a chain, to machine that feature. You'll probably need a knitted surface, too.

Highlight and select solid model -> Right click -> Copy... -> Smash -> Click to have checkmark in "Wireframe" -> Select tolerance -> OK
