Question Good base milling machine to add onto in future?

For hobby purposes I am looking to purchase a manual vertical mill. What would be good machine (bridgeport or equivalent quality) to get with intentions of CNC retrofit in future? I see there are different types of bridgeports. Are certain ones more challenging to modify?

This will be hobby in my home with very low cash flow. I figure I can add onto it as I see fit. This will avoid having to make larger investment at one time that I cannot do. Any comments appreciated!

If your looking for a larger Mill, you may be better of looking in the Bridgeport/Sieg forums. You don't really have "large" mills here, being Taig, Sherlines, X's

I just figure you may be able to find some more information in those forums.

Check out the Industrial Hobbies forum. Or check their website out. I have a sieg x3 right now and like it. But, for not much more money you can get a machine with more than twice the work envelope of the x3 and some of the best support I've ever seen. I recently had dealing with them and couldnt have been more impressed. Plus, the cnc conversion they sell is freaking incredible. They have a ton of stuff all ready to go for that machine if you need stuff in the future. A vfd and motor, a 4th axis that is a freaking beast, etc. Check em out, I dont think you would be disappointed.
