Will surely sell a DVD-ROM and probably some of the large parts such as the wedge
    which is 12 inches long.
Got off my butt and made one this evening.

Hey Hoss, that pic looks like one of four tool holders to me?

Played around with the new lathe getting it all set up,
now that it's ready to rock, it's time to get back to the ATC.
Finished up the tool rack wedges today, just need to make the spokes
and the rack itself will be done.

Hoss, also where do you get your stock. I need some stock around your size for a product of mine.

Started at 10 IPM bumped it up to 15 IPM during the run with Feedrate Override.
I get most of my stock from Online Metal Supply.
Best prices I've found out there. Inventory is a little spotty on occasion though.
Speedy Metals is my 2nd most used, a little more pricy but bigger inventory.

A bit more progress, not very motivated lately.:tired:
Enough is machined that some assembly can begin.
Need to make a couple timing pulleys tomorrow, a 15 and a 60 Tooth.
Think I'll set the tapping attachment up to tap a bunch of 1/4-20 x 1.0 deep holes.
Get a little more use out of it.

How can we motivate you?:stickpoke Looking forward to this project plans are they going to be for sale?

    Hey Bob,
Sure the plans will be for sale. Someday.
Did get the pulleys made today and a bit more assembly.
    See the video below.
Put most of the slide together that will move the toolrack in and out.

Just a little video showing a program using M3 and M5 for spindle control
and M8 and M9 for flood coolant control.

Looking good. So you're just going to program a couple more axes to make the toolchanger go, eh?

I'd be tempted to save a buck or two and just use a regular motor with limit switches to slide the changer, but heck, you've already got that stepper so why not go with it?

    Cheers,

    BW

I went with a stepper for simplicity.
Any adjustments in travel can be made just by changing a few numbers in the software.
Also I wanted the start and stop to be smooth so it wouldn't jerk the tools around
too much, adjusting the acceleration in motor tuning makes it a piece of cake.
Plus now that I have the 5th and 6th axis drivers, I could play around with
a trunnion table sometime by swapping cables.

    Getting closer!
Bolted nearly everything together and temporarily clamped it to the mill
    to test the axis' movements.
Setup the Motor Tuning in Mach 3 and it seems to work pretty well.
Just have to make a couple more mounting brackets to attach it to the column.
This thing would easily tip over a stock X2 not bolted down, especially full of tools.
I've drawn up a few more types and sizes that would probably suit the X2 better,
still has 8 or 12 tools though.
Started drawing a version that doesn't slide away but is limited to 8 tools.
More than one way to skin a cat.

That's very cool, Hoss. Coming along.

I'm wondering what the loss of Z-axis is to make room for the tool changer and tools hanging down?

Makes me wonder if you'll want your toolchanger macros to move the table out of the way too when changing tools.

    Best,

    BW

Already taken care of, drill bits in the drill chucks may have hit something
so I have it move the table as far away as possible for clearance before the
slide moves the rack. Only adds a few more seconds to the toolchange.
This model is probably a lot heavier duty than it needs to be, could shave some weight by using 1/4 or 3/8 stock but oh well.

    Hi Hoss,
Its really amazing Job. Hats off to you. Engineered to perfection , no words can explain. But would love to see them work with a servo on even a bigger machine in future. When are planning to post your designs, so people like me with less engineering experiance could start building machines at thier workshops. Love to hear from you.
