How do you generate time estimates?

    I've got a G Weike laser (wklaser.com) running Lasercut5.3.
I'm new to cutting as a service and I don't want to undercharge.
I need to generate time estimates for my customers so I can give them accurate quotes.

What method do you use to generate cutting time estimates?
Do you have an easy way to measure time spent on a given task?
Are there other metrics that you use when quoting people?
Is there some better software that will talk to this brand of machine?
Is there a suggested way to measure the actual speed & accel to build a motion profile and generate estimates? (this is a worst-case scenario)

    Thanks!

I have a new question, maybe you can help. G Weike have not answered my emails.

I connect my laser cutter to a laptop with a male/male USB cable and I've got the dongle on the laptop. I can't seem to home, jog, download, or anything else. I get the message "motion card and soft dog no same". Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

If I have several overlapping lines - identical location and length, but each one part of a different cut route - is there a way to eliminate the duplication and recalculate the best path?

If I have several outlines laid out in software, is there a way to automatically move them together to take up the least room & share cutting edges?

    Thank you.
