Lightbulb How to setup basic parameter settings for any vfd

Since the presence of various Chinese or cheap VFDs, It is really difficult to find out the basic parameter settings for each of those. There are lot of differences between these VFD settings.Specially the program number or else p modes and there functions varies from one VFD to another.

So instead of being fool by changing values,Do it like this for your ease. Most of the VFDs have detailed manual describing the functions of there pmodes. So take the manual and find the related pmode number according to the description below.

    Function Description Value
    Parameter lock/unlock 0
    Start signal selection 0
    Max. frequency 400
    Min. frequency 20
    Acceleration 12
    Deceleration 12
    Max. voltage 220
    Base/Intermediate frequency 400
    Intermediate voltage 15
    Min. voltage 8
    Spindle/Motor rated voltage 220
    Spindle/Motor rated current 6
    Spindle/Motor RPM 3000
    No of motor poles 2

For an example pmode for Acceleration in my VFD is P107 but in Huanyang Mactec54 it was PD014

So these are the basic settings need to be done. You can check the function description in your manual and find the correct pmode number and change the value as given.

Bingo I hope now you all will be able to setup any VFD without any hassle.

Thanks for this great thread that inspire me to do this.

No matter what Chinese 400Hz spindle you have, you would never have a Min. frequency Parameter setting of ( 20 )

They can not safely run at 20Hz, the Min Frequency on most of these Spindles is 100Hz, play it extra safe & set to 120Hz for your Min Frequency

A good quality VFD you can use 100Hz safely

You essentially forgot to qualify a particular motor, I assume you have the common W.C. 2 pole H.S. motor?
For e.g. I am using a Huanyang with a standard 4 pole 1485 rpm motor and I can operate down to a few RPM.
Every VFD/Motor combo is different, and many of the higher end VFD's have an auto tune to get you in the ball park.
