Does anyone know how to enter round brackets ( ? ) on the 18-T series at the control?

Press "shift" then O for (, and "shift" N for ). I am just guessing the your Fanuc panel is the same mine.

Thanks . . . shift "O" or "N" . . . didn't do it. This gives an "*" with shift "N" giving a "Q" . . . as show on the keypad.

If you don't need to use the [ ] brackets, you can change parameter 3204 bit 0 to 1, and the [ ] keys will give you (). If you do use the [ ] keys (for editing User Macros), you will need to turn on 3204 bit 2. This gives you soft keys for @,(, and ). I'm assuming you have Extended Editing?

If you need both leave parameter 3204 bit 0 with 0, and found you parenthesis pressing the soft right key twice, you'll see C-EXT hit that key and you'll see them.

my cnc cannot change parameters. it shows write protect. and i can't find the "parameter write []" setting in mdi to change it. the setting(handy) screen that used to appear looks missing. please help
