    Lubricating linear bearings (supported rails)

Has any one worked out a way to efficiently lubricate the bearings that run on supported rails?
Yes, I can always remove them and repack and reinstall, but this can be a bit of a pain.

My Idea was to drill and tap a hole in the aluminium block for a grease nipple, than try and die gind through the outer case of the bearing (offline to the ballrace) and use these to inject grease when required.
    Any thoughts?

Does the insert have any porting for grease or oil lube?

No, that would be too easy!

    Rats!

Maybe my mind is fuzzy but I thought some of the bearings we use at work where ported for lube. Maybe I'm thinking of something else. The funny thing is Thompson stresses the importance of lubrication in their data sheets. Maybe they have a detailed answer on how to do this properly with installed bearings.

Your other option would be to keep the rails wiped down with an oil or grease. The wipers will push most of it away but there should still be a film left on the shaft.
