    Nesting software

Gentlemen I am searching for inexpensive nesting software if that exists. I would be happy with a low level program without all the super bells and whistles of the Expensive programs.

Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing back from anyone who may be able to help me in my search.

You can check out SheetCam. It does nesting pretty good. Great program.

The next version of V-Carve Pro will have nesting, and a bunch of other new features as well.

Just hope that Vectric does not price VCP, as high as Aspire. With every new version raises the price, they need to keep the older version for sale on their site, that way it covers all price ranges for the guys doing DIY, & the guys that already have a business. After all it's the little guys that boosted Vectric exposure on all the forums & the net. I understand they are in it for the money, just keep the older lower price versions, & charge for upgrades If or when a guy needs them.

Not sure of the cost. I do know its head and shoulders above anything mentioned here.
I personally use dolphin cad cam but that only does manual nesting. If you are doing production and nesting is important, sigmanest may cost a bit more but it will pay it back over and over for you in the end.

Sure thing. I dont own a copy myself but know a few people that do. It's definitely the real deal in the nesting world.

That should work. We'll see how good they're first reply is. First impressions are always great.

Sigmanest is the Mastercam of the profile world. So it has bells and whistles, and is expensive.

    Hello mjp,

The next version of VCarve Pro will include True Shape Nesting (thanks gerry) and we are hoping to release this in the next couple of weeks. There will be a trial version that you could use to review the nesting capabilities.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Tony,

    That's great to hear.

    *******************

I just watched a couple of your new videos.

About the nesting video, all I can say is "Very Impressive", Great job to all of Vectric.

The finished part coloring is very cool also, I think I was the one that asked for that a year ago. I think that will really help, as far as a guy trying to sell a job, give the customer more than one image to choose from.

    HI

You can check out InteGNPS (http://www.robot51.com/enu/index.html). It does nesting and programming pretty good. InteGNPS is software used for CNC cutting machine nesting & programming, supporting all types of CNC cutting machines including flame, plasma, laser, water jet, foam etc. It is easy of use and powerful, with lower price.
If you need some more information, send me an email ([email protected]) or visit its website http://www.robot51.com/enu/index.html

    Post Nesting options

Anyone looking at this post may want to check out the Cad Nest at www.wittlockeng.com as a cheap solution for nesting. Other packages to check out would be WE-CIM also from Wittlock engineering, JetCam or Optimation.

thanks to LeeWay for suggesting SheetCam - I followed that link and found mynesting.com - who have a kind of subscription type business model. You pay for each nested DXF that you need to generate, obviously this cost is low.

I spent about £20 on 6 nestings - I also found it extremely simple to use.

Our profiling supplier obviously doesn't have any real nesting skills, and their original quote was £832.51 - with the nested DXFs their new quote was £546.46, not a bad saving for such a small investment.

I had been thinking about making manually nested files but that was going to take nearly two days!

I use Sigmanest, a very nice neat program, as long as you have them write your post. I use it with a 1500 watt Mazak laser, it has really helped reduce waste for some things but it is expensive if you need the different moduals. You sure can fill a 5x10 sheet with alot of parts with a few clicks of the button. I use it every day, very small learning curve but like every thing else, versions change as does the price, Unless you have a lot of walking around money I'd go with something else, it is not priced for the hobbiest. At home I use VCarve Cut 2d for engraving and can't wait to get the upgrade to VCarve Pro hopefully the price to upgrade will stay affordable.

    Re: Nesting options

    Checking suggestions from this thread
    Robot51.com@ $1290 + $990 according to their web site
Wittlockeng.com $ no price on their site but there's a cnczone forum where someone will know

    Other ideas
I've collected a few blog notes of cheapest prices for learners' nesting software without any extras for specific machines or industries:
setting-up shop in Drupal: Nesting software for next to nothing to do 2d CNC cutting optimisation

The cheapest after online services mentioned in this thread
eCut 6 - Main page (who's cheapest offer is a $25 utility called A1 ir AI nesting for .ai files:
AI Nesting AI Nesting - Main page
Next up is a $99 program for those desktop cutters that people use for making Xmas cards. It's called sillhouette software . I haven't tried it yet.
Silhouette America - Software Downloads http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software
Next up after that is a $200 Chinese thing.

I'll be interested to see any comments or ideas of a more recent thread where they might be posted. My own need is just for a way to visualise a nesting layout before doing it by hand, at this stage. Or possibly to send it to a lazer cutting bureau in future. I don't have a machine but might get a desktop.
