Running Mach3 with only X&Y Axis

This is my first post. I want to convert a square columnn bech mill to CNC. I only want to control the x and y axes. I intend to move the z axis manually in between x and y moves. Will Mach3 allow for only x and y moves with a pause for manually moving the z? Any input on this will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes this is possible if you put in an M01 in the programe when you want to move the Z axis.
M01 is an optional stop where the machine stops at this line and continues the program when you press go to continue the programe.
You would only be able to do simple outside profiles this way you wouldn't be able to engrave or mill pockets

Thanks. I thought that it should be possible. I run a ProtoTrak at work which is only 2 axis. We find it works well for most things we do. This is also a little less expensive way to go into this. I feel I could add the z axis at a latter date.
