Re: GrblGru: Free CAM and 3D-Simulation for mills and lathes

Ok, now I've finally got it Thank you for convincing me

The paths are calculated from the center of the tool, not from the tip. If the infeed is smaller than the radius, the green paths appear below the start line.
And you are right, this is of course a bug that I need to fix.
But please give me time. I have a lot to do at the moment and the error is not that serious. It won't break anything, it just needs time.

Thanks for your help to improve GrblGru

    Hello everyone,

I finally got around to finishing the last part of the little series about the foam cutter.

    Have fun with it

Hallo , How I can change Z and X order of machine ? Spindle moved on X platform and X driven by Z axis. Y is table axis

You can map all axes in the MachineManager.
To do this, simply enter the desired letters in the right column. After that, do not forget to press the ‘Accept data’ button.
Note that the designations are only changed in the communication with the controller. The displays in the GrblGru window remain unchanged.

From the new version v6.0, GrblGru now also offers the option of creating simple geometry objects such as circles, arcs, rectangles and polylines.
In the video I briefly introduce the various functions.

    Hi GRBLGRU

I just finished my mini lathe.
I use DCMT insert with 0.2mm radius.
I realized the diameters are undersized.

When I change the Corner radius to 0.2 in the tool tab, the contur goes under the real dimension.
    No issue above 0.2mm.

    Your help is very appriciated.

    Awesome tool!

I've been making more videos in German again recently.
Perhaps this one is also more generally understandable and interesting for some people.

    Re: GrblGru Troubleshooting

Another video in German, which also illustrates without text how to machine turned parts on the milling machine.
It also shows how you can use your milling machine as a lathe.

Should this update also fix the bug from post #761 or is that a separate issue? I just tested 1.3 and still see the same result.

    @54baseball

Sorry, I don't understand you. There is no bug described in #761. Are you talking about the milling or lathe program?
Can you please describe your problem in detail again ?

Thank you - sorry for not being more clear. Here is the comment that I was referencing. I am seeing the same behavior in lathe beta v1.3.

Re: GrblGru: Free CAM and 3D-Simulation for mills and lathes

As a supplement to my last, more theoretical video, today I would like to show you milling turning in practice. I have chosen a chess piece as a test object, which is intended to represent a possible area of application. Based on the experience gained in the tests, I had to make significant changes to the entire process. (V6.10)

Although milling turning is certainly no real competition for turning on a lathe, I am pleasantly surprised by how well it works. There are a lot of small turned parts, such as game pieces, handles, furniture knobs, etc., that can be produced very well with this method.

In addition to the familiar possibilities of a turning axis, milling turning thus offers another convincing argument for sensibly expanding the range of applications of a conventional 3-axis milling machine.

Unfortunately, the video is only available with German subtitles. I would be very happy if someone would try out milling turning and perhaps even make a video of it.
    Maybe even in English.

    Have fun with GrblGru
