    Smile

If you have a mailing list or web site I would like to stay abreast of your efforts.
I'm an early owner of a Tormach, best investment I have ever made.

The price is a bit steap for me, 40% aprox. of the mills cost. would be very interested in a drawing/instructions/software set for fabrication in house, have more time than $ right now.

    more power to you.

    John,

this thread is the "mailing list", I may, or may not offer "Kit Plans" depending on the projects viability finacially. If sales are as projected then I will not be, sorry. Honestly as stated above, the ATC is targeted to Commecial/Industrial use/buget.

With the upgrades I am doing to the Air System, the final cost of the ATC kit will be 3K.

I am waiting on some Mechanical infromation/specs back from Tormach when they return after the new year, hope to get things finalized after that.
I will let you know were we stand after that.

I think those other posts were deleted with the lawsuit thread, but I just saw on the PCNC Yahoo group that Tormach is expanding and looking to hire another employee.

Sharpshooter tends to shoot from the hip, consequently his accuracy suffers.

Bat-a-boosh! (how do you represent a rimshot anyway??) Actually,
Tormach is continuing to expand. We are currently seeking an additional Technical Support Representative...
(Just pointing that out here for people who aren't on the Yahoo list and might take sharpshooter90 seriously...)

    Best regards,

    Yes,

I am waiting on the Dual Chamber cyclinder that SMC had to get "Japan" to make to get to me. They said 3-4 weeks, and no cylinder yet...... they have about 1 more week before I get on the phone and start raising H*LL over where is my Darn cylinder......

    cylinder

Those cylinders/ linear actuators are often made to order. I made good experiences with bimba. Fast turnaround time, good quality. Made in the USA.

    actuators and quotes

These Acutators come with a variety of options, so you might have to figure that out yourself. What I usually do is go to bimba.com, make the design, get the product code and the 3D CAD drawing and then I go to airinc.net and get a quote and order. Prices are usually all in line with the competitors, the prices differ by no more than a buck or two. Leadtime for our application is usually around 10 days.

Every time this thread comes up I think of Harry Truman holding that newspaper headlined " DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN"(wedge)

Hehehee funny......... I look forward to your stand up routine.

I did try my "magic wand" to make SMC Japan move faster, and for all things to magically appear, working perfectly. But, alas my "Horgwarts" memebership has expired..

It will be out and done, when it is out and done........

I know I could find the answer to this by re reading the mile long thread but.

Does your current design have a spring pulling up the drawer bar to lock the TTS?

maybe you could edit the title to something like " ATC kit under development" for us newbies who haven't been around since the beginning.

    ATC under Re-Development.......... (that better?)

    jdclark,

I have changed the title, if you have followed this thread you will see video of the working original that was gonna be released. BUT, those on here who said, "Well you got to be able to make 1" deep cuts through aluminum just like the tormach vids. Now who would make 1" cuts on a real project I dont know but there it is. So I called Tormach and Talked to Matt, he said a Guy with "Popeye" the salior man arms honked down on the nut to hold the tool for that vid. So under normal cuttin conditions (or what I considered normal mabey a 0.050 deep roughing cut it would hold ok, but NOT at a 1" full thickness cut with high helix bit). So, I said well I will have to redesign the holding mechanizm to do that, and thus here we are. I have also added some other upgrade changes to the Swing arm and a Oil Piston for a Cushion stop at end of travel).

I have a BP2 in my shop which is about 6,000 lbs worth of machine, plus a 4 hp Spindle motor and a Cat 30 spindle and I dont take 1" deep cuts with it eigther......... so to each his own I guess. I suspect that there are Tormach users out thier that do routinly take that deep a cut, and so, I am working toward that same capability in the ATC structure.
