    G0602 Measurement

I have not gotten my lathe, yet......but I'm amassing components and making things for the day it shows up.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me a pretty accurate height dimension from the cross slide to spindle center ( Not from the compound, since it won't be there after conversion). I'm modifying some plans for a turret tool changer, and need to know where the tool center should be so I can make the base to the proper dimension.

Its a rainy Sunday, so I'm hoping to pass some time drawing.... :-)

    Thanks

I was just futzing around on it tonight and was trying to get my 1/2" tool back on center. I was getting 3.070" on the digital height guage after I shimmed the tool to leave no nub in the center when facing. Used that as the center height for my cutoff tool and got good results.

Which turret plans are you modifying?

You are planning to document your build here with lots of photos, right?

I think I'm gonna try the ISS International. It's pretty much the same one Steelpolish made in the other G0602 thread. I was considering the "revolver".....but this one seems so much simpler, and would require much less air pressure since the piston is so big (4"). I still have some time to think about it.

I'm gonna try to make it from mostly aluminum.

I notice his is 3.000" to the center line of the turret. Maybe the machines vary. I'm gonna have to wait til I get mine in the shop, I guess.

2 more weeks. It's not backordered, I just have to save a few more bucks.

OK, I guess it's this one:

I'm not sure that my machining skills would be up to the task just yet (but I don't even have a suitable lathe yet, so I have plenty of time to develop them)...
