    X axis backlash

My Sl-30 needs a new Ball-screw and nut there is backlash confirmed at the nut. I currently don't have the money to replace it.

So temporarily I'd like to adjust the backlash number in the machine parameter. Anyone know how many encoder counts to a .0001" of an inch, and in which direction to modify it?
    thanks

Have a look at Parameter 266. Somewhere down the screen you should se X RATIO (STEPS/UNIT) this is steps per inch so you can figure out the steps for 0.0001". I don't know which way to change the backlash Parameter but you can easily get that by a few trials.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

Well I got it set to what it needs to be. Don't know that it will help as the turret weight makes it take the slack up in both directions unless you push on the turret by hand.

So If I'm doing something tight probably will depend on the size cut I use for finishing, and if that cut is enough to push the added weight.

Lame, well I'll have to get more work (ya not like that's hard enough in this economy)
    thanks
