    Retrofitting an Italian Lathe (DI PALO DPR5)

    Good morning community, i will show you what i'm doing...
    i have an old Lathe DI PALO and i decided to retrofit with a cnc system...
    i started with the project, and bought all the necessary to make that work:
    30 mm INA linear guide for the axis;
    20-05 THK balls screw with ballnut for short axes;
    25-05 balls screw with double ballnut THK for long axes;
    2 servomotors leadshine with relative servodriver 400w for the axis;
    1 servomotor MAB with DigitAx driver 1.5 KW for the spindle;
    all the necessary for the lubrification and to make it works.
    here you can see the first fothos of the lathe, with the project and the starting works...

    when i finished the paint i started with the solution you can see in the pictures for drill the original guide using the original carriage, in this way i had the perfect parallelism...
    after mount i used the instruments to regulated them, then assembly...

    centerless grinding is very useful for the machinery purpose .its good because centerless grinding gives support to machine in the mid point and machine done work properly.

    asuratman,

    i turned a back side of the toolholder with a 60° conic side, then i made the drill you can see on the plate corrispective with the conic side.
    i also turned the screw as you can see in the photo with a 55° conic side, well when you lock the screw in the side you will block the toolholder in the desiderate position.
    Anyway i have an other screw in the back side of the toolholder
