    mig as a spot welder?

    hi all
need a bit of advice on spot welding.......

just got some plans on how to make a spot welder using a power supply from a microwave. i was telling a mate about this and he said there is a setting on his mig welder for spot welding but he didn't know how to go about it.

would this mean that you would set the welder to the spot setting, connect 1 arm to earth and the other to live and away you go. or is there a bit more to it.

    thx for you help.

It's a timer that makes the MIG fire at an interval. It's used when you weld together bigger pieces that doesn't need full seams, for example.

that would enplane the signs on the switching knob.

so i doesn't mean spot welding as in 2 bits of copper coming together then zap you have a weld?
