    Tool Chatter

I have a 5'x10' CNCRP machine with their spindle. I am getting some significant tool chatter when the machine transitions from y axis travel to x axis travel. I am running a .25" compression bit at 200 ipm. the chatter is really bad at the top left and bottom right corners. You can actually see the machine shake when it makes that transition. I am at my wits end. I slowed down to 90 ipm and it helped but surely I thought I should be able to run that machine faster than that. Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Scott

    Hi Scott,

I'll give you a call to discuss. As long as you aren't trying to cut too deep in a single pass, you should definitely be able to cut faster than this (assuming you are cutting wood of some sort, aluminum requires lower feed rates). We can go over some areas to check to make sure things haven't come loose, and also discuss software / CAM settings that significantly impact the smoothness of machine motion.

    Best regards,
