    Tool setter alarm

The boss just recently purchased a three year old Mazak 510C with the 640 Fusion control.
It is Equipped with a Renishaw TS27R toolsetter, a OMP40 probe and an OMI(Optical Machine interface).
When you try to set a tool length machine alarms out with a "3092 probe open" alarm.
Also get the same alarm if I try to run the tool setter calibration program.
Any ideas out there about what is causing the alarm and how to get rid of it?
Seems strange to me that I'm only running the tool setter but getting a probe alarm.
The probe system does not work either.
I've been manually setting the tool length and using the machine coordinate system to set the G54 work coordinate. I'm only running EIA programs.
I want to call the Renishaw people but the boss ain't goin' for that. Have no idea why.
    Thanks guys.

Alarms for tool setter are also called probe alarms.
Do you have manuals?I think Renishaw website has them in PDF form.
If you follow instructions from manual how to set and calibrate tools , then something can be screwed up with macros, parameters, cables or TS27R itself.
1.I would reload probe programs(if you have discs).
2.Check if the probe contacts open and close when you touch it with multimeter.
3.Are baterries good for OMP40.When you put then in OMP 40 blinks.
Help from Renishaw over the phone is free.
    For your Boss.
By using TS27R on my CNC , I have NEVER crushed it (nor my operators) due to typo.Plus set up of 10 tools takes 5 minuts error free time after time after time.
And don't get me started how is CNC life before and after OMP40.
    Good luck.

    Tool Setter alarm

    Hi WITOMCIO.
Tried all your suggestions. Only thing that worked was calling Renishaw.
Their customer service was outstanding. They had an engineer walk me through a trouble shooting sequence with a volt meter. Finally isolated the problem in the tool setter head itself.
The part is on its way back to Renishaw to be repaired or replaced.
Hope it don't take long. I'm gettin' tired of setting the tool lengths manually.
    Thanks for your help.
