Yet another Boss 8 communication problem

Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted but I need your awesome brain power! I have found myself in front of an old bridgeport knee mill with the Boss 8 control. I have managed to program via the front panel but my god is it a pain. I am trying to get communication up and running but just get the dreaded 0040 alarm every single time. I have noticed that only the baud rate is adjustable but what about stop bits and parity etc? I have predator and hyperterminal to use for upload/dnc but can't seem to get it working. I saw on some of the similar threads that some of you guys have sent people copies of the EZLINK software, is it possible that I can get a copy of this? Any help you guys can offer would be very very much appreciated!

    Regards, Todd

One other thing that may be the problem is my program format. Right now I'm using the following format:

    %
    M6T1
    (program here)
    M02
    %

No program number or anything. Any guidance would be great.

    Regards, Todd

I tried to send you a email but it was returned.
    Cable must be correct.
Handshake is done at the PC.
8 data bits, 2 stop bits, no parity, X on X off enabled.
Program starts with a :1234 (example) and ends with a M30.
The % sign is for a tape reader.
I used DOS version of PROCOMM through Port A to upload download and edit. Prior to that I used a TRS80 Model 100 (23 years ago).
    Do you have the manuals?

    George
(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

Thanks George, I do have the manuals but they seem to leave out the stuff I need to know. I will try the settings you listed and double check the cable.

I have no idea why the email was returned, weird.

    Thanks again man!
